I distinctly remember feeling homesick, over a month living in a country where there was very little that reminded me of home. Fast Food, Horrible Weather, British People. All that came together in one evening.

12.08.2011. That was the day it happened. Whatever I felt in the way of homesick-ness disappeared once this evening had passed.

Let me explain.

This day began as someone told me that there was a Pizza Hut in Madrid. My eyes lit up, my stomach began rumbling, my mind wondered as I saw Pizza Hut memories flash before my eyes. I immediately planned this Epic Reunion me and Pizza Hut would have. The day was planned for 12.08.2011. I planned the journey, going from Cartegena Metro station to Alsacia Metro Station to then walk down Calle de la Fuente Carrantona. I could just see the journey going through my head (perhaps because I Googled Mapped it).

That day was also the first thunderstorm that I had witnessed in Madrid, now in Madrid, when it rains, It Rains. And I was walking back from the beautiful meal, and it happened. It started to Rain. I began to smile, I thought of Home, the rain, the wind, the clouds, all there before me, soaking me, as if to say to me, you are now home.

So the British People point, there wasn’t really British People, it was really just me, I was trying to be dramatic or something, not really sure.

So that is the story of 12.08.2011.
